Junk Journals with Heather Foubert from Foubert Farms at Blue Nova Workshop $35.00

  • Blue Nova Workshop 2680 East Main Street Plainfield, IN, 46168 United States (map)

In this Junk Journal class you will:

Gather Junk: Yes, you read that right! In this junk journal class, you will learn to use every day found materials and objects in your junk journals! This could be old paper scraps, doodle papers, cut up bags, fun decorated papers, junk mail, kids coloring pages....literally anything that you find inspiration in! Think about the typical things that you might throw away, and begin setting things aside in your own personal junk pile! There are so many uses for junk, get to gathering!

Learn: As a group, students will learn what junk journaling is and how it can be useful in your everyday life! We will take a look at different papers, substrates, and materials that are often used. Students will also have the opportunity to explore different art mediums to create more "junk journal papers" to use in your own personal junk journal signatures that will be created in class!

Color, Create, Collage, and Collaborate: We will explore a variety of methods to create a junk journal signature including handmade papers that are uniquely yours! Students will share materials to create one-of-a-kind journal signatures.

Each workshop participant will receive a premade junk journal kit that includes everything you will need to get started in junk journaling!

Students will also learn how to bind their first junk journal signature, as well as work through a variety of exercises and activities to get you used to working in those journals!!

What to bring with you:

Sometimes we can get a little messy in class, so please be prepared. I usually like to have an apron or old shirt handy just in case. We will be using paints, watercolors, glue, and other art materials.

Junk: what I mean by that is: extra bits, scraps, fun envelopes, junk mail, scrapbook papers, fabric scraps, collage elements, old papers, painted papers, vintage papers, and anything else that you might like to use in a journal.

Supplies: It's always handy to have your own pair of scissors, stapler and glue sticks if you have a particular brand you like to use, otherwise they will be provided.
